Seriously, "The General Lee" is in LAST place. Are you kidding me? Some of you are voting for something driven by David Hasselhoff over the great "01"??!?
(I am guessing this has SOMETHING to do with the demographics of the voting pool.)
(Thank goodness I did not put "The Ninja Turtlemobile" on here . . . if such a vehicle even exists.)
K.I.T.T. (really?)
Does anyone even know what K.I.T.T. stands for (NO googling ALLOWED)?

Dating Secret #37
Here is something to think about: (this is in reponse to some dating questions I get from time to time)
Ladies, as you date - keep this in mind: They way a guy talks about his family and especially how he talks about his mom is the best indicator of how he will treat you (one day . . . maybe not on any individual date). Studies back this up in big ways. Guys, the way a girl talks about her father is how she is likely going to relate to the guy she marries.
Do ALL follow this pattern? Of course not, but it's like saying that when you throw a ball at me, I am going to catch it with my left hand. COULD I catch it with my right hand? Yes. BUT I HAVE TO THINK ABOUT IT MORE.
The way a guy (or girl) talks about their family is a guiding indicator of how they will one day relate and treat those they commit to.
It's something to think about.
So what if you don't have a relationship with your mom and/or dad? What if you live with only one parent (primarily). Again, you need to be aware that you will have to THINK a bit more as you relate to that particular sex because you don't have a pattern. It CAN be done and it can be done well, but you need to KNOW this as you journey toward that relationship. You will have to be MORE AWARE (like cathcing a ball with your opposite hand).
Ladies, the secret is that FOR THE LONG TERM: how a guy talks about his mom is how he will come to view the role of wife, mom, and mate because when the "romance" becomes reality, it is all he knows. To be honest with you, guys are not all that aware of this truth . . . and guys, you need to know that you need to find someone (I'm talking ultimately and not necessarily for whomever you ask out for this Friday night) who will be a good mother because VERY soon in your relationship it will be one of the things that matters most (although I realize that it is not tops on the list in high school perhaps.)
Bottom line for my Christian sisters: If he does not treat his mom with respect, he has no idea how to treat you with any.

Silly Rabbit, Trix are for Kids
(I will confess that this post is a re-post of an earlier Xanga post but seeing that a good percentage of you reading this have no idea what Xanga even is . . . and no it is not an 80's movie featuring Olivia Newton John . . . that would be Xanadu . . . and not a chicken finger eaterie . . . that wold be Zaxby's . . . anyhow . . . I trust that most of you have NOT read this, so no doubt it will be a ride down memory lane for some of you out there)
My wife takes the girls to the store and allows them the one treat that comes about once every cycle of the moon - "You can pick out any cereal you want."
When I was a kid, this meant hours of pacing up the aisle to carefully consider if it was worth more to go with:
a) the sweetest possible choice
b) the one with the coolest commercial (or the most recent one I had seen) in hopes that when I took a bite that the character might show up at MY house, so I could go to school and say "Hey guess who thinks I am GGGRRRRRREAT?"
c) the one with the most intriguing toy (soon to be most likely yard sale item)
This is a choice that might occupy my mom's entire time in the store . . . which as I have gotten older I have realized might be why the choice was given in the first place.
Lucky Charms, Sugar Pops (no . . . because my dad would eat them all), Sugar Smacks (no, who really wants to eat something pitched by a frog named Dig 'em), Fruit Loops (should I follow the nose that always knows?), Trix (parents can't share them because after all, they ARE for kids) . . . Frosted Flakes (too soggy too fast), let's see who is on the front of Corn Flakes this month . . . not that I would actually CHOOSE Corn Flakes, but always good to see who made the box), Apple Jacks (you endure them just so you can get to that awesome tasting milk at the end), Raisin Bran (yeah right . . . although there was always the urge to see if they indeed HAD TWO SCOOPS of raisins), Alpha-Bits (oh sure, I'll be more of a nerd and SPELL things while I eat), Kix (they are just tricking us into thinking these are FUN!!!!)
. . . then THE REAL choice . . . the trifecta of temptation . . . the one choice that would bring all other worries in life to a screeching halt - Frankenberry, Count Chocula, or Boo Berry. (I want to run to the store NOW as I have started salivating at the keyboard.)
I would normally end up with one of these (Frankenberry won most of the time - unless Count Chocula had the cool prize. I certainly did not want HIM showing up at my house.)
My mom would make one more attempt like this:" OOHHHH, this LIFE stuff looks tasty." or "Hey there is white sugar all on one side of these mini-wheats."
No "unsinkable taste" of Cheerios for me. What does that even mean anyway. Am I eating the Titanic?
Well back to my girls . . . Daisy looks and looks and what does she pick. "Darth Vader" cereal. Yes it is new. Yes it is a shameless plug for the movie. Yes it is as awful as it sounds. About an hour after eating it, talk about Revenge of the Sith. But she knows that I have a vast Darth Vader collection featuring toys from my childhood and newer versions of the villain from the dark side. She picked it because she wanted to see my face when I saw it and she wanted to have a bowl with me.
I just stood in the pantry tonight and held that box and thought of a little girl who passed up My Little Pony Flakes, or Fairy Pops or something else so that we could share a moment together. The force is strong in this one.
I imagine God feels the same way when I wretch out a song or throw words together in an attempt at prayer. He might feel like I am promising him a feast but serving a bowl of Darth Vader Cereal instead. But he shows up at the table because I picked it for Him.
So in the morning, I will eat (although this cereal can't be (as the commericals say) a part of ANY nutritious breakfast). I don't imagine I will hear any snap, crackle or pop . . . no green clovers or purple horseshoes . . . but I will treasure that moment . . . and I might keep the box, because after all Darth Vader made the front.

I'm Tired
I’m’ tired.
I'm tired of . . .
. . . people who say one thing but do another.
. . . people who are so obsessed with impressing others.
. . . of doing one thing but saying another so that I can impress others.
. . . people who promise to give something up “tomorrow” or “next week.”
. . . spending too much time reading ABOUT the bible and not reading the Bible.
. . . giving God what is left of me after making sure that everyone else has what they need of me first.
. . . saying I’ll pray for someone . . . just “saying” it,
. . . and God is more tired of waiting on me to do it.
. . . wasting so much time worrying about what others think about me when I know the value God has given me.
. . . making fun of those who don’t do things the way I do them.
. . . being jealous of those who do things better than I do them.
. . . of people who say “That’s not my job!”
. . . encouraging those people who are so needy that what I do never seems enough . . . because that’s not my job.
. . . Saved by the Bell reruns, Britney Spears, and Mike Tyson.
. . . watching those teens who want to do right get made fun of by those who don’t have the strength to be like them.
. . . people who say “It won’t happen to me.”
. . . my purity being attacked with every image, song, movie or episode of FRIENDS I see.
. . . people who dress in such a way as to make my efforts to stay pure such a challenge.
. . . of that part of my nature that wants people to dress that way.
. . . watching those I love throw away their purity, integrity, and self-esteem while I just sit there.
. . . looking into a teen’s eyes knowing they want what Jesus offers but not until they have tried everything the world offers.
. . . of years of trying everything the world offers.
. . . teens who have no idea what they are doing to their marriages by touching, trying, and experimenting with someone else’s future husband or wife.
. . . guys who are more interested in freeing a girl from her clothes than freeing her from sin.
. . . girls who let guys do so many things because they are afraid they will lose them if they don’t.
. . . of rooms full of boys and girls who can’t look at one another because they have lived the last two things and then got tired of one another.
. . . of listening to my friend who is a Vandy fan say “Wait till next year.”
. . . being a Braves fan who is always saying, “Wait till next year.”
. . . people being proud of all they do that is so offensive to God.
. . . seeing another friend, teen, or family member become a slave to alcohol.
. . .teens who think something is wrong with them if they have never had a drink.
. . . being made fun of because I have never had a drink.
. . . people saying it’s because I am holier than they are when I know that if I had one good buzz, I would not be able to stop because so much of me wants to feel good and not holy.
. . . talking with everyone else about their relationship with God and coming home to my wife and being too tired to talk about her relationship with God.
. . . finding out another one of my friends is getting a divorce because of an addiction to internet pornography.
. . . Satan having his way with nearly everyone from 13-19 and then spitting them out and leaving them angry with God.
. . . seeing another friend battle a life-threatening disease because of an eating disorder.
. . . going to worship and going home no different than when I arrived.
. . . seeing teens who are tired and turn to anything and everything other than Jesus for rest.
. . . of being an adult who so often turns to anything, and everything other than Jesus for rest.
“Come to me, all you are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls.”
